Rev. Dr. Eric M. Brewer

Rev. Dr. Eric M. Brewer is the Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Waldorf, Maryland, bringing more than 30 years of ministry experience and a deep commitment to faith, leadership, healing, and community transformation. He is a graduate of Morehouse College, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Drew University, where he earned his Doctor of Ministry degree.

Dr. Brewer also serves as the Director of Field Education at Howard University School of Divinity (HUSD) and Program Coordinator for the Black Congregations Resource Center, the continuing education arm of HUSD. Through these roles, he is committed to equipping and empowering the next generation of faith leaders for transformative ministry in the church, community, and world.

A significant focus of Dr. Brewer’s ministry and scholarship is healing, resilience, grief recovery, and the unique experiences of grief within the Black community. A COVID-19 survivor and widower, his personal journey through profound loss has helped shape his calling to accompany others from grief toward growth. He founded a national support ministry for Black widowers and is a Certified Thanatologist and grief coach. He is also the author of From Grief to Growth: A 31-Day Journey of Healing and Renewal Through Love and Loss.

An internationally sought-after speaker and lecturer, Dr. Brewer addresses audiences on grief, emotional wellness, resilience, faith, leadership, and the intersection of spirituality and healing. His work has taken him across the United States and around the world. In August 2026, he lectured at three law schools in India on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s ethical vision of the Beloved Community, exploring the intersections of law, ethics, faith, justice, and community.

Beyond his professional and ministerial work, Dr. Brewer finds great joy in traveling with his wife, Rev. Tiffany Williams Brewer, Esq., a law professor and former judge, and spending time with their daughter, Elana Joy Delacruz, and granddaughter, Joy Sophia. Whether preaching, teaching, mentoring, writing, or simply connecting with people, Dr. Brewer’s passion is helping others navigate life’s challenges, discover purpose in their pain, and embrace a future filled with faith, hope, healing, and renewal.
